Happy Independence Day America!!!
To mark the US Holiday, Who better to spend it with our old friend The Great Gildersleeve... A recurring story point on Gildersleeve was his collections of friends, The Jolly Boys, a men's club of sorts, which revolved around mostly getting together and singing (which was a great device to showcase star Harold Perry's great singing voice) the membership stayed the same over the years, of coarse Gildy, Judge Hooker, Floyd Munson-the barber, Chief Gates and Mr. Peevy the owner of the local drug store. One of the things that strikes you when listen to many episodes of GG is the audience love of Mr. Peevy, all actor Dick LeGrand had to do was say anything and huge laughs would come from the studio audience; His unique voice and famous tagline "now I wouldn't say that" made audience hollow! Another funny Peevy-ism from the show was when a song needed to be selected to sing Mr. Peevy always selected the same song, "There's a Tavern in the Town, in the Town..." which almost always got shot down by Gildy.
Here is a Holiday themed episode featuring our friends the Jolly Boys!!! Enjoy!
