The supporting cast was great with Connie's kooky absent minded land-lady Mrs.Davis, the wobbly voiced student Walter Denton played masterfully by Richard Crenna, Harriet Conklin, Walter's girlfriend and Mr. Conklin's daughter, Stretch Snodgrass, Madison High's dim witted star athlete and the Romeo in Connie's life, the bashful, handsome Biology teacher, Phillip Boyton played for a time by Jeff Chandler. The show focused on Miss Brook's long and hard battle to win the heart of Mr. Boyton, always dating but never an ounce of romance, Connie came up with scheme after scheme to win his heart! Eve Arden's delivery of line's is classic and never before on radio was a strong leading female character that was both smart and sexual.
The show ran on CBS from 1948-1957 and on TV from 1952-1956 with many of the same actors playing their original rolls...It was very popular on TV as well; even though the actors playing Harriet, Walter and Stretch were much to old to be playing High school students.
Here are a couple classics from Our Miss Brooks!
